Why is it that these holidays seem so long in theory, but in reality they evaporate almost at once? It's almost gone now, but the long Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful. We spent a lovely three days in Knoxville, enjoying the company of Grandmommy, Grandfather, and Auntie. Two movies were seen - in the theater, no less. We shared a meal with Will, Joy and their families. Dad and I went shooting. And, of course, we had a great, traditional Thanksgiving meal. Auntie Kathy came to spend Thanksgiving day with us, which meant lots of card games (Hand and Foot) and we even managed to convince the boys to play Cranium.
Too bad no one loved on Scotlen and Jonas all weekend. Oh, wait, that's right. They were completely showered with attention and adoration. Here are some pictoral highlights:
Morning cartoons with Grandmommy.
Sibling interaction.
Girls' card time.
Inspecting the frog tree.
We did add one non-traditional item to the Thanksgiving feast this year. As the adults were all chatting merrily in the kitchen, Scotlen announced, "Jonas is eating cat food." We turned to see him hunched, oddly cat-like, over the bowl of cat food. He was reaching for what was most certainly not his first morsel. I mean, who eats cat food before the gravy is ready?
