Snow Days

Scotlen has been out of school ALL WEEK. Due to snow last weekend. Snow that was seemingly gone by Tuesday. But this series of decisions by the school authorities have been well-received by our girl, who does not seem to have yet developed a deep love of learning.

The highlight of Scotlen's week of fun was most likely the sleepover at Mimi's house Thursday night. Scotlen and Bennett met up at Mimi's for some playtime and ice cream. Then Scotlen and Bennett crashed on the floor of Mimi and Hots' bedroom. Apparently, Scotlen only cried for her Daddy once, expressing concern that there might be ghosts in the attic, a concern that was likely prompted by an earlier Scooby Doo viewing party. With a little reassurance from Bennett and some logic from Mimi and Hots, Scotlen was talked out of her fears.

The next day, Kyle picked up Scotlen and Bennett and took them to Peekaboo Playtown for more playtime. This was an incredibly popular decision. They then proceeded to lunch at Scotlen's current favorite - Itty Bitty Sandwich Shop.

But yes, we do still have another child. Jonas, unlike his sister, has seemed to develop a love of learning. Unprompted by any of our efforts, he has decided to learn his letters and numbers and has accomplished that task in short order. In other news, we also took the J-man to the eye doctor this week at the recommendation of our pediatrician. Apparently everything checked out ok, or maybe the doctor just told us that because Jonas insisted on playing with all the expensive equipment in the room.

And I must add one story I left out of the Christmas post. It was my favorite Christmas moment this year. We were at Uncle Todd's house where the children had received Cabella's guns that shoot small, orange, foam balls out, two at at time. Everyone was gathered in the living room and Kyle picked up one of the guns and prepared to shoot Halle in an ambush. He vigorously fired the weapon, only to discover that he was holding it backwards, and shot himself in the face. Thank you, Santa Claus.
