Melon-heads and Photographs

It has been a good week so far in Gallatin. Kyle handled the children like the pro he is during my work trip to Charlottesville Sunday through Tuesday. Jonas is feeling better, crawling around endlessly, and chanting his "da-da-da's." He also seems to be developing opinions. So far, his opinions seem to be "I want to be held," "I do not want to be put down in the [insert any location]," and "I want to be held." His method of communicating these opinions is an ear-splitting scream. It's really quite charming.

Jonas also had his 9 month check-up this week. He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight and the 99th for head circumference. The doctor didn't actually say that this melon-headedness was a sign of superior intelligence, but she didn't really have to. It's just so obvious.

Scotlen discovered one of Kyle's old cell phones rolling around in the backseat of the car this week. It has a camera built in, and after we charged it up, she has had a great time discovering her interest in photography. Watching the subjects she chooses for her photos has given us an interesting insight into the perspective of a 3 year old. Here she is in Target, photographing her muse, the cookie aisle:

She has used the camera so much that the battery on the phone is now dying. As it dies, the phone keeps vibrating, and Scotlen keeps saying "I think someone is trying to call me." She then flips open the phone and says, "Hello!." It's funny, but also sort of sad. Fodder for the therapist later in life, I am sure.

We head for Knoxville tonight and the beginning of a new world, ahem, new football season, tomorrow. We are all excited, especially Scotlen, who is sporting the only number worth wearing this season:
