August 1979. Kyle departs for his first day of kindergarten. And yes, his parents did buy him a backpack. He just wanted to carry everything in his arms. As you can see, Kyle still has the same fashion sense as he did back then - white belt, plaid pants, cool polo. In fact, I think he still has that outfit.
August 1982. Sara prepares to depart for her first day of kindergarten. She had clearly been well-assembled by Grandmommy. Hair neat and braided, dress spotless, matching bows. Luckily the outfit was not inspired by the kitchen theme, which was clearly 1970's mustard yellow.
July 2011. Scotlen on her first day of kindergarten. A little plaid for her Daddy. A couple of braids for her Mama. And a pose that is all her own. Scotlen had a great first day and excitedly declared at pick-up time that she had invited one of her friends over to play. Only when we asked what the new friend's name was, she couldn't quite remember.
We are so proud of our big girl.
