You know those baby books, soft and delicate, filled with lace and flowers? With pages for each precious moment - the first smile, the first laugh, crawling, walking. Well, I'm discovering why those become less common after the age of 18 months. Because there's nothing flowery or delicate about the milestones our children reached this week.
Jonas has progressed quickly from not talking at all to talking all the time. This was all nice until we were trying to get him to say Grandfather. He refused to try for the longest time, and then finally, clear as day to the entire room, he uttered the word fork. Only it wasn't the word fork. In the words of Ralphie from A Christmas Story, it was the f dash dash dash word. Perfectly pronounced. Not to be mistaken for any other word. And to make matters worse, he now says it periodically in bursts of seven or eight.
Not to be outdone, Scotlen reached her own important milestone. She decided that farting is hilarious, and now she tries to do it on purpose.
We are so proud.
