The children and I made a special trip to Knoxville at the tail end of this weekend for a reunion of sorts. My three best friends from middle school and high school were all going to be in town at the same time, and we decided to get together. Did we sip cocoa and munch on tiny tea sandwiches while discussing the news of the world? No. But we did herd our collective eight children around my parents' house, refereeing squabbles and monitoring breakable Christmas decorations. Each of us now has two children, and each of us has a boy and a girl. The oldest is in kindergarden. As you can see, it is fruitless to try to get eight young children to pose in a photo together, especially when the hidden Jonas is screaming his head off. But it was lovely to see everyone. And there is nothing to make you fall in love with your friends again like meeting their beautiful children.
