Goings On

Here is a taste of what we have been into lately:

1. We took immediate advantage of the good weather last Sunday and headed to. . .that's right. . .the zoo. We have a couple months left on last year's zoo membership, and we plan to make the most of it.

Unwilling posers

Riding the tiger

We tried to get Jonas to waive at Scotlen as she rode the carousel, but he was only interested in looking at one thing. . .

Checking out the elephants

Meerkat impersonation

Fun on the swings

2. Popcorn. Kyle's birthday is on the 23rd, so I ordered his present and gave him strict instructions to NOT look at the boxes that were delivered to the house. He called the next day to claim that he had been letting the dogs out when a box was delivered and just couldn't help but see it. It was unavoidable. Right. But we have enjoyed our movie theater style popcorn earlier. And it is delicious.

3. Jonas woke up in the predawn hours on Friday with his first case of the croup. Of course, to us, it just sounded like he was choking on his own lungs. I don't know how to write about this other than to say it was terrifying. After he was over the worst of it and we had confirmed he was not choking on anything, he sat in our bed in the semi-dark as we discussed what to do. I made the statement that he no longer seemed to be in any distress, to which Kyle replied "what makes you say that, the fact that he is dancing?" After a couple of rounds of steroids, his croup has settled into what appears to be a common variety cold. Nothing, however, can dampen his appetite.

4. Other miscellaneous sights around our house in the past week.

We were actually moving the alcohol from the kitchen to the pantry because we seldom use it, but Scotlen wanted to see the pretty bottles.
