The second annual Reynolds Water Party started off a little damp and dreary. Approximately 45 minutes before the guests were to start arriving, a ferocious thunderstorm rolled into town. This was not a brief shower. And just when it seemed the rain would never stop, the power went out. As it turns out, when the power goes out, the slide and bouncie houses tend to deflate and become useless. The first 30 minutes of the event were spent sitting in the dark garage waiting (and praying) for the power to return.
Which it did, of course, and the weather cooperated for the remainder of the day. We went through a lot of hot dogs, popcorn, cookies, and snow cones. There was lots and lots of bouncing. At one point, I was pretty sure that Jonas had been bouncing for an hour straight. And there was LOTS of sliding. The only interruption in the fun came when a swim diaper failed to completely contain Caroline's secretive deposit. After a brief Caddy Shack "DOODIE" moment, the slide was back in business.
This year we added an obstacle course to the fun. It was definitely a hit. The official winner was Will, but there might have been a bit of a stopwatch malfunction on his run. Or maybe he got a time deduction based on age. The NCAA committee has not yet ruled on the matter.
