Beach Bums

It's official. This marks the first year that both of our children love being at the beach. Up until now, we've always had one in the not-to-sure-about-the-waves stage or the infant-eats-sand-and-cries stage. But in 2010, from day one it was obvious those times were finally behind us. We can thank Grandmommy, Grandfather, and Auntie for making it possible for us to enjoy the beach time, because otherwise it would just be stressful trying to make sure everybody was safe in the surf. Kiawah Island was most often the beach destination for my family when I was a child. It has remained largely unchanged since those days, and so it is wonderful to now share its many wonders with my children. From riding bikes to observing the many "creatures" that grow in shells to hunting ghost crabs at night, it has been a magical week.
